 Photoshop Post-Production

After conducting my production for my print advert I had to go through the photos and decide which one was the best to use out of the 20 photos that I had taken. My original plan to utilize the tools on Photoshop to crop one photo and put it on to another one was a good idea in theory, but not in practice. As I tried to use layers to create the image but Dylan's arm was way bigger than Saul so I tried to make his arm smaller than the glass and the water did not reach Saul's head or if it did Dylan's Arm would be disembodied. This made me try one of the pictures where the water was being poured over Saul in the same picture so I chose the picture below to be used in my project.

The reason I chose this one specifically is that the models are more central to the camera than in other photos and not only this but Dylan is stood at a reasonable distance away to where he can be cut out of the photo and it still meets Saul's cigarette naturally. although this shot was taken in landscape which goes against the original flat plan as it is meant to be based on this magazine cover of Harry Styles which is shot in portrait. This is easily solved as I can crop out the extra bit of wall and the rest of Dylan's body using the crop tool to create something similar in perspective.

The current photo does not look much like the cover yet. The next step i took was to make the image look brighter and have Saul and Dylan's arm pop out more form the picture. I did this by going into the adjustments tab on the right side of the screen and selecting brightness and contrast bringing down the brightness slightly and bringing up the contrast by 40. After this I selected the hue/saturation tab left the hue as it was and turned up the saturation to enhance the colours as the lighting for the photo makes it a bit mundane and doesn't catch the eye that much. With all that being done i decided to add the Better Health and Anti-Smoking logos to the top left and bottom right corner, these position may be subject to change as i plan on add other things on top of the image.

Next, I added the NHS logo to where the Anti-Smoking symbol was as I thought it would be more aesthetically pleasing for the NHS and Better Health logos across each other. I also changed the colour of the Better Health box to blue to match and also added a paragraph to fit with the flat plan but it's quite too hard to read and doesn't catch the eye so I may change this to just a large tagline.

I've consulted a member of my audience to find out what they thought so far. They suggested getting rid of the long paragraph at the side about anti-smoking as It "Didn't really appeal" to them and detracted from the individualism of the advert that I was going for to appeal to the young audience. I have put in it's place a big tagline at the top of the poster and I've changed the colour so it's aligned with the NHS and so it can follow the codes and conventions. I used a sans serif font for the title because it makes it look more serious as that's the goal of the poster to make you think about the negative aspects of smoking. I utilised full stops at the end of each word to make the words stand out even more.

 Audition Post-Production

Here is a screenshot from Audio Audition of my radio advert i tried during the production of the project to make the audio fade in and out as I thought that audio came in way too abruptly so i tried to experiment with different tools in premier pro to make the audio less jarring than it was on first listen. As well as this you can see sounds playing at the same time, this is to create the sounds you would hear while on a run as the diegetic sounds consist of someone running on snow to create a more detectable sound, the wind blowing and heavy breathing. I plan on changing the heavy breathing sound clip as it isn't as obvious as I want it to be.

I decided to change the Breathing sound to something more noticeable and I've also added the voice recording I did from YouTube and I deleted the video footage of my reading the script this is because the radio advert will not need any visuals. You can also see that some of the fade-in and fade-out lines have been adjusted to suit the new audio that has been added.
