Photoshop Post-Production
After getting back to college from South Hylton I went straight to work on photoshop to get the final product finished on time I was confident I would be able to achieve my vision for the final product and be able to add a bit of experimentation. The first action I took was to make the background red with the gradient tool. I made both of the gradient colours the same bright red so the full image would be the same colour, it was a pretty simple tool to use and really helped me achieve what I was going for.
Next was to add the photos I had selected for the final product in order and in the centre of the image. the way I added the photos was by going into 'file' at the top left of the screen and clicking 'place embedded' which gave me access to my documents so I could add the images from there. Placing and adjusting the image size was a bit tricky because I actually wanted the images to be longer but I couldn't do that without messing with the image quality so It ended up looking better as it was.
In order of the changes shown in the image below, I added the text first which was just applied with the text tool I set the text colour to black to go along with the flat plan. The font is also a sans-serif font as I want the audience to think about the advert and have it remain in the audience's mind. The black borders were done with the shape tool and are on a lower layer than the pictures. It's actually not a border at all and is just a blacked-out rectangle giving off that illusion. The last thing I did for this image was add the Canon logo which was done the same way as adding the pictures of Saul but I had to go online and save the image to the computer. I noticed when adding the Canon logo that the red on the background and the red on the logo were different shades. To fix this, I used a tool I hadn't used before called 'the magic wand' it got rid of sections of an image with different colours. It initially didn't work but this was because I hadn't made the image a 'smart image' once I had done that the canon logo looked like it was a natural part of the image.
With that being done my full flat plan was complete, but I still felt that it turned out a bit bland. So I decided to think of other things to add to the advert as a way to improve the final product. My first idea was to get a clear picture of what Canon Cameras look like to show off the product even more than the Photos have. So I got a photo of the same camera that Saul is holding and the one I took the photos with and placed it in the centre beneath the middle photo and above the Canon logo. I also had to use the magic wand to get rid of the white background the picture came with to make it look better
Once I had added the camera it annoyed me that there was only one camera but three photos and three words so I added two more Canon Cameras but from different points in time to keep in line with the theme of Journeys. this was to show that like the person in the picture Canon has been on a journey too. I used the same Magic wand tool to get rid of the background of the images. I then added these symbols above the text to demonstrate what the journey that the subject in the photos is going on. and the picture below is the final product.
