Better Health Anti-Smoking Production
On the 27th of January, Saul and I with some assistance from Dylan conducted the production for my Better Health print advert for anti-smoking. This was after many delays which included weather problems, model changes, location changes and Illness. in the pictures, I provided props such as a menthol cigarette, a lighter, and a glass which we filled with water from a tap. The whole idea of the advert is to stop unhealthy habits to accommodate healthier ones which is the reason I chose to use water to put out the menthol. water is something that all things on the earth need to live and actively keeps everything going while cigarettes, to those who smoke them, are actively killing them so its sort of this dynamic between the two as one is started by fire and the other has the power to put it out.
As you can see above here are some behind-the-scenes shots from the day that Dylan took to display what part of the plan was that set out. I wanted to first get individual shots of Saul smoking and the water being poured before doing both at the same time. This was so I could layer the two individual shots over each other in Photoshop just in case the originally planned shot didn't turn out how I wanted I could do some editing in post-production. Below are some photos that I have taken to help display what I mean with the specific image of Dylan pouring water its most likely too zoomed in as if I were to add it to the picture of Saul Smoking, the glass would be the same size as his body so another shot would of either Saul closer to the camera or most likely another shot of Dylan pouring water would need to be used.
In the picture directly above, I will have to cut out some of Dylan's body as his arm is only meant to be visible in the shot but that is easily fixed. the reason that in this shot the water is being poured in just in front of Saul is that I asked Dylan to do different things with the glass as I asked him to chuck it on him, pour it on his head, and in front of him, etc. along with this planned experimentation I also saw an opportunity to take a different type of shot that I hadn't planned for. after we had finished using the cigarette we dropped it on the floor where we had poured the water I saw that and realized if I put the glass beside it, it could create a new option for the print advert apart from the original plan.
This is the shot that I used as a bit of an experiment to use as a potential other option. it's more gritty than the other shots and is shot from a high-angle shot while the majority of the shots are taken at hip level. this is to show the cigarette in a negative light as the camera is looking down upon the props which work against the normal purpose of this shot is to make the subject seem more submissive and sympathetic. but with the dark colours contrasting the subject's position it gives the opposite impression to the audience
Better Health Radio Production
Take 5 was the recording that I have chosen for my radio advert as I believe my delivery in this video is the best and fits with my previous plan of being slow and clear so getting this correct was imperative for my advert to be successful. Also, in this take unlike previous recordings and recordings after it I did not stutter, miss a word, miss a line of the script or press the recording too late. This recording is about 20 seconds long which is great as the diegetic sound I will be implementing will be around the same length in total meaning I will have about 40 seconds of audio this makes the overall recording just the right length as it was meant to be in between 30 seconds to a minute.
